A new 1.2-mile extension to the popular Boykin’s Landing Trail is now open at Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve in Stafford County. The addition allows hikers to explore more of the scenic Potomac Creek shoreline before connecting with the Crow’s Nest Point Trail. From the Raven Road parking area, the full trail now offers a 4.4-mile moderate hike through the preserve’s mature hardwood forests.
Managed by the Virginia Natural Heritage Program at DCR, Crow’s Nest has been a protected natural space since 2008, offering hiking, paddling, and other low-impact recreation. The trail expansion was completed with support from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation and marks a continued effort to improve access while preserving the area’s sensitive ecosystems.
With limited, first-come, first-served parking to ensure a peaceful experience, visitors are encouraged to plan ahead. Looking forward, a larger expansion and new parking access are planned for 2026 through a partnership with Stafford County.
